Chapter 21

I am one of the lucky few.
I have always known what I wanted to do. For as far back as I can remember, I dreamed of being a pilot. I was able to live my dream: as a Naval aviator and test pilot, flying attack and fighter aircraft off the decks of eleven ships; as an American Airlines pilot, flying wide-body Boeing 767s and MD-80s. I’ve flown cargo and corporate and enjoyed it all. Recently, I bought a share of a Musketeer and will be teaching my kids to fly.
Aviation has been my livelihood, my passion and my hobby. I started writing to share my experience of flight initially for my kids; it has now blossomed into a published work—in fact, a series of books. The following is a chapter that I hope shows my passion for flying and puts you, the reader, into the cockpit. If you enjoy it, I think you will love my book.
